Ms. Margaret Mary Hendricks
Senior Manager, Institute of Mental Health

Ms. Hendriks is a registered nurse with a postgraduate qualification in psychiatric nursing and a degree in nursing from the University of Sydney. She obtained her Diploma and Advance Diploma in Administrative Management in 1995 from the Institute of Administrative Management, UK, and an Industry Trainer’s Certificate from the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore, in 2001.

She has worked both in the inpatient and the outpatient settings of the Institute of Mental Health.

In 1990 she was on an attachment program to The Royal Park Hospital in Australia, studying community psychiatric nursing services.

Since 2002 she has been involved in the development and implementation of clinical pathways and the discharge planning protocol in the hospital, as well as several research projects. She is a member of the Disease Management Committee of the Hospital. IMH Clinical Pathways was given an exemplary award by the Joint Accreditation International Commission in 2005. Ms. Hendriks has presented her research findings on clinical pathways at hospital, national and international conferences. Together with her colleagues, their poster on IMH’S clinical pathways was awarded the first prize at the Singapore Clinical Quality Forum in 2005. She has written journal articles for the Singapore Nursing Journal and Journal of Psychosocial Nursing (US) as well as the Asean Journal of Psychiatry. She has also lectured at the Nanyang Polytechnic to case management students and does regular training on clinical pathways to doctors and nurses in the hospital. She has delivered talks on stress and anger management under the hospital’s Mental Health Education program to the public.

At present, she is the senior manager of case managers who are in the acute, psychogeriatric, forensic, rehabilitation and community psychiatry departments of the hospital.
