Professor Tan is the Group CEO of SingHealth, a leading public healthcare group committed to medical excellence, research and teaching.

A distinguished orthopaedic surgeon, Prof Tan is deeply in tune with global trends and advances of the medical profession. As a veteran of 37 years in public healthcare, he has served in numerous national-level committees that have helped to shape the clinical care delivery framework and healthcare system in Singapore.

For his many contributions to public service, Prof Tan has been awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 1999, May Day Medal of Commendation in 2004, Leading CEO Award by the Singapore HR Institute (SHRI) in 2005, the Public Service Medal at the National Day Awards 2006, and the Service to Education Awards 2007 .
