The newly published 3rd Edition of JCI's International Standards for Hospitals makes significant advances in the requirements for safe, quality patient care. JCI staff and a panel of health care organizations will discuss the new standards including: International Patient Safety Goals, the accreditation process and decision rules, safe medication practices, effective infection control, communication of information, adverse events, and the “tracer” methodology.

Broken Healthcare Processes: 4 Big Mistakes
This workshop will highlight through live demonstration the big causes of inefficiencies in healthcare processes. It will provide participants with a way of identifying these inefficiencies (or causes of waste in the system) as well as an understanding of principles and methods to overcome them. Learning will be hands on and experimental. The mechanisms for improvement are primarily grounded in lean thinking methodologies. Topics include: Broken Healthcare Processes: 4 Big Mistakes; Not Seeing!! (Not seeing our great inefficiencies and wastes). Learn with live simulation.

This workshop focuses on Emotional Intelligence and how to practice the skills and techniques that will help advance your career, improve work effectiveness, and cultivate personal qualities leading to success. Most significantly, Dr. Bob will actively engage each participant in learning the 15 Guidelines for Emotional Competence Training and help discover the “cluster that form a critical mass of competencies” that lead to high levels of success.
