Prof Dr Abdul Kadir

Director General, Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia


Prof. Abdul Kadir has a myriad of impressive achievements in the health sector. Born in Makassar, South Sulawesi, he is a son of regional pride who has successfully achieved a career and has become a national important figure. Inaugurated recently, on 22 October 2020, at the age of 58 he becomes the Director General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health. This made it timely to immediately formulate various policies, especially policies related to health services in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He has successful continuing education from graduate medical doctor to ENT specialist, then got his master in hospital administration at Hasanuddin University Makassar. His attainment of doctoral degree at Otolaryngology Hiroshima University has successfully led him to become an academician in Makassar. Until now he has written as many as 90 titles, including books, scientific works and research results

He held several important positions at the Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makassar Hospital, from Head of the ENT service unit to become President Director. He is also the Chairman of the Indonesian Medical Association in South Sulawesi, and active in dozens of professional organizations. Now he also serves as General Chair of ARVI/Association of Vertical Hospitals, Chair of the Regional Committee for Hearing Loss and Deafness South Sulawesi, and General Chair of PERSI South Sulawesi. The last 5 years he has held the position of President Director at Dharmais Cancer Hospital , then Head of the Central Agency for Health Human Resources Development and subsequently became Director General of Health Services. Surely this father of four children brought pride and a fragrant name from his land.
