Madam Prof Nguyen Thi Kim Tien
Minister of Health, Ministry of Health, Republic of Vietnam
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien took the position of the Minister of Heath of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on 3rd August 2011. She was member of the Viet Nam’s National Assembly (2011-2016).
Having graduated from Hanoi Medical University, Viet Nam in 1982 as Medical Doctor, Dr. Kim Tien pursued the training of Internal Doctor specialized in Epidemiology and Public Health in three years, from 1982 to 1985, in this medical school. In 1993, Dr. Kim Tien enrolled in Bordeaux-II University, France, where she graduated in 1994 with a Master Degree in Epidemiology and Public Health. In 1995, Dr. Kim Tien obtained the Philosophy Doctor Degree in Epidemiology at the Ho Chi Minh City’s Medicine and Pharmacy University. She became Associated Professor in Epidemiology and Public Health in 2002.
Until joining the Ministry of Health as Vice Minister of Health of Viet Nam from 2007 to 2011, and then being elected as Minister of Health of Viet Nam since 2011, Dr. Kim Tien was the Director-General of the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City.
Oxford University gave her the honorary title of visiting professor for second term from 2016 to 2021
France Government gave her Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur in 2009
