Erum Gonsalves is Senior Manager, Transformation at The Aga Khan University, a leading tertiary care 660 bedded teaching hospital in a large metropolis where demand for high quality healthcare is on the rise. Erum holds a Master’s degree in Healthcare Management and has experience in Process Improvement, Change Management and Internal Consulting.
She has been actively involved in leading major BPR projects in the University hospital aimed at improving efficiency, eliminating bottlenecks and improving service quality to maximize value for patients. One of her key achievements includes leading a project that successfully streamlined the Inpatient Discharge Process facilitating annual bed hour savings of over 100,000 through reduction in discharge process time. This project was Internationally recognised and received a Gold Award in the Innovation in Hospital Management category at the Hospital Management Asia Awards in 2017. Her recent Improvement projects include a review and redesign of processes in Emergency Department with an aim to reduce Length of stay and increase patient throughput and also Outpatient Clinics with an aim to minimize turnaround times. She has presented these projects as a speaker at various international conferences including: Healthcare & Hospital Management conference in Austria (2017) and Rome (2018) and HealthCare Systems Process Improvement Conference in San Antonio, US (2019).
Erum has been playing an important role in helping to foster a culture of sustainable change and supporting the framework to deliver business transformation at the Aga Khan University Hospital.
